Under ADR Regulations, Consignors of radioactive nuclides are obligated to have emergency plans in place.
These plans include the transportation procedures of the consignments and as the courier, we are required to have visibility of these so that we can ensure they are followed when they are in our care.
Having compliant paperwork is a key element of the procedures. Information relating to the consignment is required throughout the transportation process and must be recorded in the right order for ease of reading by the Fire and Police authorities in the case of an emergency.
Consignor emergency plans are required to be tested and reviewed every 3 years, we undertake these exercises with the customer and all relevant parties involved and results are reported to the competent authority and to the Department of Transport.
