At Topspeed, safety and environmental responsibility are important parts of how we operate. As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards across our operations, Warehouse Manager Steven recently attended an accredited First Responder to Liquid Spills training course.
The training, organised through Winsford BID, took place in May in Winsford.
Practical spill response training
The course was designed for dedicated site spill response staff and provided practical guidance on how to respond quickly and effectively to liquid spills.
Key areas covered during the session included:
- Legal requirements relating to spill response
- Spill control planning and preparation
- The role and responsibilities of a first responder
- Competent first-response procedures
- Practical spill control techniques and equipment
The course also included a practical element, giving attendees the opportunity to put the learning into practice using the appropriate spill response equipment.
Importantly, the training is accredited, providing formal recognition of the knowledge and skills gained during the session.
Supporting safe and responsible operations
For a busy courier operation such as Topspeed, having appropriately trained members of the team who understand how to respond to spills is an important part of maintaining a safe working environment.
Effective spill response can help minimise risks to people, prevent damage to property and reduce the potential environmental impact of a spill. Having trained first responders on site also means that the appropriate action can be taken promptly should an incident occur.
Steven’s attendance adds to the knowledge and capability within the Topspeed team, supporting our wider approach to health and safety, environmental responsibility and continual improvement.
Training and development are an important part of ensuring our team has the skills and confidence to respond effectively to the challenges that can arise in a busy operational environment.
At Topspeed, we’re committed to continually developing our people and processes to help maintain safe, responsible and efficient operations.
