Topspeed Launches Volunteer Time Off Policy to Support Local Communities

At Topspeed, being a responsible business goes beyond delivering exceptional logistics, it’s also about giving back. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Policy, designed to support colleagues who want to make a meaningful difference in their communities.

The policy allows eligible team members to take up to three days (24 hours) of unpaid time off per calendar year to volunteer with approved organisations. These include registered charities, schools, environmental groups, and other non-profit or community-focused initiatives that align with Topspeed’s values.

Speaking about the new policy, Holly Lockley, Business Manager at Topspeed, said: “Our people regularly show a genuine commitment to supporting their local communities, and we wanted a formal way to recognise and encourage that. The Volunteer Time Off policy reflects our values and gives colleagues the space to contribute to causes that matter to them, while still balancing the needs of the business.”

Supporting Causes That Matter

Volunteering can take many forms, and the policy has been designed to reflect the wide range of causes our colleagues care about. From supporting food banks and community shelters to taking part in environmental clean-ups, mentoring students, or helping with fundraising initiatives, there are countless ways to get involved.

One example within Topspeed is driver Drew, who has been volunteering with St John Ambulance for three and a half years. This year alone he has dedicated around 75 hours over a four-month period, taking on the role of First Aid and Community Engagement Lead for Manchester and Stockport.

Drew originally signed up to learn vital first aid skills, having previously been in situations where he felt those skills were needed. Since then, his motivation has grown into something much bigger.

“It’s about giving back to the community,” he explains. “You gain skills that can genuinely help people, and that’s incredibly rewarding.”

For Drew, the introduction of the VTO policy is a welcome step forward. “Not having to use my holiday entitlement to volunteer during the week is a great help. It makes it much easier to commit time where it’s needed.”

And his message to colleagues is simple: “I’d encourage it. It might sound cheesy, but it’s well worthwhile. You’re giving something back, and it makes you feel positive in yourself too.”

Drew has been part of the Topspeed team for 13 years, and his commitment is a great example of the impact colleagues can have beyond their day-to-day roles.

Looking Ahead

The VTO policy forms part of Topspeed’s wider commitment to corporate social responsibility and will be reviewed annually to reflect feedback, participation, and evolving priorities.

We’re incredibly proud of the passion our people show, both in delivering for our customers and in supporting their communities, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will continue to create.
