Topspeed Publishes Latest Carbon Reduction Plan

Carbon Reduction Plan

At Topspeed, we’ve always been passionate about doing things the right way – for our customers, our people, and the planet. That’s why we’re proud to share the publication of our latest Carbon Reduction Plan, which sets out the steps we’re taking to make our operations greener and more sustainable.

This year’s plan includes some exciting milestones:

  • 77% of our fleet is now electric – that’s 121 vans, driving close to 1 million electric miles over the last 12 months.
  • In October 2024, our electric mileage officially overtook diesel mileage – a huge moment for us.
  • We’ve invested £3.65 million into our electric fleet so far, with charging powered almost entirely by renewable and nuclear energy.
  • At our Winsford HQ, we’ve made big changes too – from installing LED lighting and energy-efficient heating to fitting a brand-new insulated roof with natural light panels.

Of course, progress doesn’t come without challenges. The manufacture and delivery of new electric vans has temporarily increased our emissions, but we’re confident this will balance out in the year ahead as the benefits of decarbonisation really kick in. In fact, we’re aiming to cut our emissions by over 37% by 2027 – and we’re well on track.

We’re also continuing to reduce waste in other areas, like reusing specialist fibreboard packaging that would otherwise be thrown away after one use. Small changes like these make a big difference – both for the environment and for our customers.

We’re incredibly proud that our Net Zero target of 2040 has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), an independent assessment that recognises our commitment to sustainability.

As Managing Director Gillian Lockley says: “While challenges remain, our commitment to sustainability is stronger than ever. By driving innovation and embracing change, we’re confident of not only meeting but exceeding our targets.”

This is just one more step on our journey – and we’re excited to share our progress with you. You can read here the full Carbon Reduction Plan 2025
