We are thrilled to announce that Topspeed has been awarded the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) contract once again, for a further three years.
The contract, which is valued at almost £4.35 million, was re-awarded to Topspeed earlier this year following a comprehensive re-tendering process.
During this period, DEFRA reviewed all aspects of the contract, set new objectives for the coming three years, and invited suppliers to submit their proposals for consideration. As the incumbent supplier, Topspeed has provided bespoke and value-adding services, including the collection and delivery of both Category A and Category B infectious substances under ADR, as part of the company’s laboratory transport service throughout the UK. Topspeed also handles routine samples and laboratory consumables.
Furthermore, in the event of disease outbreaks, such as the recent cases of Avian Flu, Topspeed’s emergency call-out team can collect and deliver emergency test samples directly to the laboratory on a 24/7 basis. This is the third time that Topspeed has been awarded the DEFRA contract.
Gillian Lockley, Managing Director at Topspeed, expressed her satisfaction at the news, stating that “it is a significant organisational challenge to deliver such a wide range of bespoke services on a 24/7 basis, and to have been awarded this contract once again is a testament to the desire, commitment, and flexibility of all our operations team and drivers at Topspeed.”
