Topspeed Couriers are breaking new ground in the logistics industry with our ambitious journey to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.
Leveraging Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, we believe we are leading the way in sustainable courier services, transitioning to a fully electric fleet and setting an example in the industry.
Having already electrified 59% of its 210-vehicle fleet, comprising Mercedes Vito, Citan, and Sprinter vans, we aim to complete our electric transformation by 2027.
“People told us we couldn’t electrify a courier fleet, but against all odds, we’re doing it,” said Gillian Lockley, Managing Director at Topspeed. “Webfleet has been pivotal to this success, offering real-time data insights and EV-specific solutions that help us streamline operations, promote greener driving practices, and manage the unique challenges of running electric vehicles.”
Technology Driving Sustainability and Safety
Key to this transformation has been the deployment of PRO 8475 driver terminals and the Webfleet Video solution across our fleet. These technologies enhance operational efficiency, improve safety, and support sustainability goals.
The multi-camera system provide comprehensive visibility of road conditions and ensures cargo security during loading and unloading – a critical feature when transporting high-value goods.
“Webfleet Video’s ability to analyse driving behaviour and identify risky actions has been instrumental in safeguarding both our drivers and our business,” Gillian explains “We’ve significantly reduced incidents of distracted driving, improved road safety, and cut insurance claims costs by over two-thirds.
“This has led to a reduction in our insurance premiums by £21,000 in the past year, further demonstrating the value of this technology.”
Positive Impact on Driver Wellbeing
Topspeed’s shift to electric vehicles has also brought notable benefits for its drivers. The need for regular charging enforces necessary rest breaks, promoting healthier work practices.
“Our drivers are now getting the rest they need, which has positively impacted their health, wellbeing, and job satisfaction,” Gillian shared. “The electric switch has truly been transformative for our workforce.”
Leading the Way in Sustainable Logistics
By combining cutting-edge technology with a clear vision for sustainability, we feel we are demonstrating that transitioning to a greener future is not only achievable but also beneficial for operations, safety, and employee welfare.
With a fully electric fleet in sight by 2027, Topspeed is setting a benchmark for sustainability in the logistics sector, proving that innovation and ambition can overcome even the toughest challenges.
As Gillian proudly concludes, “Against all odds, we’re doing it – and we’re showing the world what’s possible.”
