Happy New Year

Topspeed look back over the Christmas period

The country officially returns to work after the festive period. The news report on the increase traffic on the roads and social media channels are full of boasts of email inbox sizes and inspirational messages to get us through the short working week.

“Happy New Year and how was your Christmas” is the standard greeting uttered by us all as see colleagues for the first time this year and there follows a quick rundown of the highs (and lows) of their festivities.

At Topspeed it’s a slightly different story as the offices were opened throughout Christmas as many of our customers operate services 365 days a year and require specialist courier support. The team were all able to celebrate with their friends and family, but all took their turn on operational duty, we even had emergency call outs on Christmas day that needed immediate attention.

With sporadic outbreaks of bird flu as Defra’s approved supplier we were called up for emergency collection and delivery to Government test laboratories to ensure that Public Health was safeguarded in an efficient manager

Aside from the ongoing contracts, we are often asked to carry out one-off jobs. One such assignment over Christmas involved the transportation of a large piece of artwork thereby requiring a high level of care and attention in moving a valuable object safely. Topspeed were selected for the work as being known as a safe and secure courier and we are delighted to report the picture was safely delivered and is now hanging in its new home.

The reason for highlighting this, was that we wanted to share with you some positive news regarding courier services following the negative press in December when there were many tales of unhappy customers chasing their deliveries in time for Christmas. Most of the courier firms involved were well known nationwide organisations, many of which operate policies of using self-employed drivers which don’t always have the resources or capacity to effectively manage their routes and delivery schedules. The media reports included data gathered by Which? In their annual survey on delivery companies and it was reassuring to see that the best type of courier companies are Private Local and Independent couriers with an 82% customer rating score. We are very proud at Topspeed that all our drivers are employed directly by us and that in our most recent survey, 95% of customers surveyed rated our service as Excellent.

So from the ‘Excellent performing’ Topspeed team, we wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best for a prosperous and healthy 2017.
