£1 million DEFRA Contract Secured

Colin Ewing Topspeed Courirers

We are delighted to announce that Topspeed have been re awarded the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) contract for a further three years, a contract that is worth close to £1 million.

The decision made by DEFRA earlier this month was confirmed to the directors of Topspeed following a comprehensive re-tendering process that spanned a four-week period, where all elements of the contract were reviewed, objectives set for the coming three years and suppliers invited to submit their proposals for consideration.

As the incumbent supplier Topspeed has provided a bespoke and value adding services collecting and delivering, under ADR, both Cat A and Cat b Infectious Substances as part of the companies UK wide laboratory transport service, as well as more routine samples and laboratory consumables.

In addition when disease outbreaks occur, such as the recent bouts of Avian Flu, Topspeed’s emergency call out team can collect and deliver emergency test samples direct to the laboratory on a 24/7 basis.

David Turner, Managing Director commented on the news “it’s a significant organisational challenge to deliver such a wide range of bespoke service on a 24/7 basis and to have been awarded this contract once again is testament to the desire, commitment and flexibility of all our operations team and drivers at Topspeed”
